IF Metall is looking for a local ombudsman

IF Metall organizes employees in the engineering, automotive, and chemical industries, mining, pharmaceutical companies, and laundries, with over 300,000 members across 13,000 workplaces in Sweden. Approximately 21 percent of the members are women. IF Metall has a feminist perspective and advocates for justice, equality, and gender equality.

We are now looking for a local ombudsman who wants to work closely with our members and contribute to stronger and safer workplaces in the region. The position is located in central Linköping in bright and spacious premises. We look forward to your application!

About the role

As a local ombudsman, you will work with labor law advice and represent members in negotiations and disputes. You will also help develop the union organization by recruiting members, starting clubs, and supporting elected representatives in the workplaces.

Your responsibilities include signing collective agreements within IF Metall's areas of agreement and building relationships with workplaces in the region. The work involves significant personal responsibility for member issues and negotiations, while collaborating closely with other ombudsmen and administrators in the department.

Particular focus is placed on workplaces without a union club and on raising awareness of women's working conditions and opportunities for professional development.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date to be agreed upon. Salary and conditions follow IF Metall's agreement for local ombudsmen.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with experience in union work and good knowledge of labor law. You have experience in negotiations, meeting people, and working with member recruitment or organization.

Experience as an ombudsman or in signing collective agreements is an advantage. You express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish, have basic knowledge of English, and are accustomed to working with digital tools. A driver's license is required as travel is part of the job.

As a person, you are relationship-building, communicative, and solution-oriented. You can prioritize your work independently and are driven to improve working life for more people. Of course, you also share the values of the labor movement.
